Volleyball

2SP (Speed, Strength, and Power) is excited to offer a training program specifically designed for women’s volleyball. The program has players perform game like movements with appropriate resistance. By training these movements, players will be able to transition their performance from the gym to the court.
2SP increases vertical approach jump, block jump, endurance jump, 10 yard dash, 20 yard dash, and agility cone drills. 2SP utilizes these volleyball combine tests to help track athlete progress:
- Vertical Approach Jump: measures explosiveness and vertical jump using the Vertec measuring device. The momentum of the three-step volleyball approach is used and the athlete jumps to reach the highest point.
- Block Jump: measures vertical jump height using two hands from a flat footed position.
- Endurance Jump: measures endurance of an athlete jumping over a set height for 1 minute. The number of jumps completed is counted.
- 10 yard dash: a short sprint to measure speed and acceleration over 10 yards.
- 20 yard dash: a longer sprint to measure acceleration, speed, and the ability to maintain the initial burst of speed over 20 yards.
- Agility Cone Drill: measures speed and agility using forward, backward, and lateral movements. Looking for quick acceleration, controlled deceleration, rapid change of direction, followed by quick acceleration.
Injury prevention is an added benefit to our program. Volleyball players are especially susceptible shoulder and knee injuries. Building up rotator cuff and surrounding shoulder muscles will help the shoulder absorb and transfer more force. Likewise, building up the gluteus, quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves will help the knees absorb and transfer force. Abdominal and core strengthening is also a vital piece to these athlete’s performance in controlling posture and transferring momentum explosively.
VertiMax is the only system in the world that can simultaneously train explosive leg power and arm swing velocity by loading both the legs and arms for Maximum Vertical Development. VertiMax provides the greatest speed gains because it loads both the drive (foot ground contact) and swing (foot airbourne) phases of the running motion, for Maximum Speed Development.
