2SP SPORTS FRIDAY ROUNDUP
Lahser 6, Groves 4
The Knights received seven solid innings from starter Neal Krentz, who struck out six. Long said Krentz had been sick all week and was pleased to receive such a strong effort from the junior right-hander under the circumstances.
“We wanted to take him out after the sixth inning, and usually I’ll talk to a guy and ask him if he can continue,” Long said. “Most of the time (the pitcher) takes his eyes and will look to the ground, which usually means no. But Neal looked at me and said, ‘Give me the ball.”
Krentz was able to capitalize on his team’s offensive support by tossing scoreless innings at opportune times following the game-changing home runs.
Madison Heights Lamphere 9, Fraser 2
Alex Maodus was 2-for-3 with an RBI and gained the victory on the mound, striking out eight and allowing just two hits.
